Our Texas home and the first stop on the road to a forever family for our dogs
Saving Lives in Texas
Since our founding in 2017, Hearts & Bones has focused on rescuing dogs from the overburdened Texas shelter system by placing as many as we can into loving foster homes. In 2020, we expanded our efforts by taking over a private dog retreat to be used exclusively for the rescue and transport of dogs out of Texas shelters and into loving foster and forever homes on the East Coast. While foster homes remain the backbone of our organization, our Rescue Ranch enables us to dramatically increase the number of dogs we can rescue in Texas by providing a safe, comfortable and loving place for them to stay while we prepare their transport.
Life at the Ranch
With 5 acres of land, three buildings, large individual kennels with their own outdoor runs, and big communal play yards, the Ranch is a place where former shelter dogs can relax, play, and get lots of love while we prepare them to travel. We have a full-time caretaker living on site and wonderful part-time caregivers who provide our newly rescued dogs with the best care, any medical treatment they might need, and an endless supply of love. Each dog stays at the Ranch for 2-3 weeks before making the journey to NYC to join their eagerly awaiting foster and forever families.
